What is Coursemate?

Coursemate is a simple yet effective platform used by reps to submit feedback. The aim is to use the platform to log all feedback to ensure that it can be assigned to the relevant School and/or Sabbatical Officer. You can then work together to ensure that this student feedback is heard by the University, and lobby for change.

It is essential that all feedback is submitted – remember, feedback can be positive, negative, or general!

How do you use Coursemate?

The following steps outline how to use the platform and how to get the most out of it. We are here to help, so if you have any questions, please contact su.reps@northumbria.ac.uk.

1. Log into the SU website

  • The Coursemate platform can be accessed via the Students’ Union website (mynsu.co.uk)
  • Log in using your student sign in details through the "Log In" button at the top right of the page
  • You will need to authenticate your sign in using Duo
  • Once you have logged in, click on ‘My Account’ at the top of the page (where the login button was)

2. Access Coursemate

On the left-hand side of your account, you will see a section called 'My Student Dashboard'. Click on this.

After following this link, there will be a section called 'Coursemate'. You will need to click on this to access the platform.

3. Log your feedback

  • Once you have clicked on ‘Coursemate,’ you will be able to input more information.
  • Please ensure that each piece of feedback is logged separately.
  • You will need to give each piece of feedback a title and provide as much information as possible – the more information that is given, the more we can help and signpost your feedback effectively and efficiently.
  • If any imagery, for example, a screenshot, is submitted as evidence, please note this in your feedback.
  • Click the 'Submit' button to log your feedback.

Once you have submitted your feedback, you should see this message:

4. Confirmation of logged feedback

Once you have successfully submitted your feedback to Coursemate, you will receive a confirmation email in your university email inbox letting you know that it has been received. Note: Please check your spam folder as this will come from a source external to the university!

5. Confirmation of assignment of feedback

Once the Student Voice Team has received your feedback, they will review and assign it to the relevant representative and you will receive an email to your University email inbox letting you know who it has been assigned to. You can log into the Coursemate dashboard to check for progress and updates.

6. Viewing your submitted feedback

Feedback that you have submitted (including submissions that have been assigned, are being working on, and have been completed) can be found by scrolling down the page from where you submit your feedback:

7. Viewing your assigned feedback

To view your feedback in more detail, you will need to click on the little arrow under the spanner:

After clicking on the arrow for more information, you will be able to see what feedback you have submitted and who it is assigned to. This will enable you to know who is working on your feedback.

8. Communicating about your submitted feedback

  • Once your feedback has been assigned to the relevant Rep, they will be able to leave comments (accessible through clicking the arrow), and you will be able to add comments back.
  • You will be able to use this part of the platform to have 1-1 conversations with the representative that your feedback has been assigned to.

9. Completed feedback

Once the representative dealing with your feedback has completed the work, it will be marked as complete. You will see this marked under the complete tab.
