What is a Townhall?

A Townhall is an informal gathering where you can meet with your Programme Leader and course team to discuss survey feedback as a group. Think of it as an open forum or feedback session where:

  • You and your classmates can talk directly with staff about the survey results
  • Programme Representatives can raise issues on behalf of students
  • Staff can explain what feedback they've received and respond to your concerns
  • You can have a two-way conversation about what's working well and what could be improved
  • Everyone can discuss what changes are possible now versus what might take longer to implement

These sessions can happen:

  • In person on campus
  • Online via video call
  • Hybrid (some people in person, others joining remotely)

The format is flexible depending on your programme size and what works best for you and your cohort. It's more relaxed and conversational than a formal committee meeting, making it easier for you to share your views and hear how staff plan to act on your feedback.

How does it work and what is my role as a Rep?

  1. A student survey will be released once per semester (you will complete 2 in total) and all students will be required to complete this survey. It will be issued mid-semester.

  2. After survey results are released, you will meet informally with your Programme Leader to discuss themes and concerns.

  3. There will then be a Townhall style event where the broader cohort can provide additional input. These will be organised and led by your Programme Leader. You will help facilitate these conversations and represent student perspectives authentically. For students who don't feel comfortable raising feedback themselves, you can also act as a spokesperson for them.

If you require any further information or support, please contact your Programme Leader.
